My pre-operation assessment review determined that, due to my prior medical history of Ankylosing Spondylitis and Wolf Parkinson White, that a senior Anaesthetist would be required during my surgical procedure. This would be my first surgery and anaesthesia at the age of 71. Dr. David Uncles provided general anaesthesia for my TURIS operation at Worthing Hospital on August 10th, 2016. Dr. Uncles deportment, communication and listening skills gave me confidence in him from the outset. During our pre-operation discussion at my hospital bed and in the ante-room adjacent to the operating theatre immediately prior to surgery, all aspects of what was being undertaken in relation to anaesthesia was communicated in a calm, reasoned manner. The decision to opt for general anaesthesia instead of a spinal anaesthetic was clearly explained to me and understood. I had no problems in recovery from anaesthesia. Dr. Uncles visited me at my hospital bed post operation, reaffirmed his decisions and actions and confirmed that I was well recovered. He followed this up with a letter to me which, due to my medical history, could be presented to any anaesthetists involved in any future anaesthetic management. Dr. Uncles provided exceptional care and attention to me in all aspects of anaesthesia, especially given the complexities with which he was confronted during the procedure.

I found Dr Uncles very approachable and had a very reassuring disposition and also a good sense of humour which i think can help put patients at ease if they are apprehensive

I would recommend this doctor his has a fantastic manner in making you feel safe and not frightened. In which can be a very frightening thing whether you have been through it before or not . Nothing was to much trouble for him.He explained things clearly frombstart to finish.Even talked you through what he was doing stage by stage in theatre.even took time to come and speak to you after surgery.he is such a fantastic doctor if i had more surgery i would hope i could have him as my anaesthetist.Trusted him one hundred percent. Thank you for your fantastic care and you are a credit to the nursing perfession.

Profile

I am a specialist Anaesthetist with interests in Obstetric, Ambulatory and Inpatient anaesthesia. I employ a variety of anaesthetic techniques including general or regional anaesthesia, although I often use them in combination to optimise and enhance patients' peri and post-operative experience.
I am dedicated to putting the patient first through the provision of safe and reassuring care delivered in conjunction with my colleagues and associates.
I was present at the inauguration of the Helsinki Declaration in June 2010. This enshrines the values essential to the promotion of the highest professional and safety standards expected of anaesthetists. It is my hope to match or even exceed the expectations of patients who place their trust in me.
